The Bikini Beach

On local islands, bikinis are not allowed on public beaches. That is why there is the Bikini Beach right in front of the house, shared by the island’s guesthouses: here you can lie in the sun in a bikini without offending anyone. We bring you loungers with cushions and sun umbrellas. Topless sunbathing, however, is not allowed anywhere in the Maldives. In the village: shoulders and knees covered.

In the house

  • Shamar Restaurant

Breakfast 07:00–09:30 (a small one from 05:00 for early boats and departures), lunch 12:00–14:00, dinner 18:00–20:00. À la carte full board for all guests; anything you order outside these times is charged from the menu. Drinks other than water, tea and Nescafé always cost extra.

  • Shamar Bar

Nescafé, tea and water are free all day; all other drinks cost extra.

  • Rooms

Air-conditioning, a fan, a bathroom with hot and cold water, free Wi-Fi and a safe in every room.

  • Laundry

We do your laundry – just ask.

  • Plastic

We use no plastic straws and no plastic bottles. You refill your water at reception and on the first floor. At check-in you get a cloth bag for shopping, and it is yours to take home.

On the island

  • Village restaurants

If you fancy eating out: the village has small places serving Maldivian and international food, usually at low prices.

  • Shops

The small shops in the village are part of island life. What you spend there stays on Maamigili.

  • Health

Maamigili has government and private health centres with a good standard of care, and the doctor there can write you a prescription. If you have a minor injury, tell us and we will take you there. Report a dive accident to us immediately; we arrange the transfer to the nearest decompression chamber.

Safety

A rescue beacon for every diver

Every diver with us gets an ENOS beacon clipped to their BCD. If you drift off at the surface, you set it off, and the crew sees on their receiver right away where you are – even when the boat is out of sight.

The system has been around since 2005, and dive centres all over the world rely on it. At Shamar Divers it is part of every dive.
